Buying A Suit For A Bargain Price

by Victor Santerino

Buying a suit is not always the most economical process one can undertake. Many people do not have the budget to buy suits, ties, shirts, and dress shoes for a job that has not even paid them yet. This catch 22 rule of needing professional clothes to get a job but needing a job to buy professional clothes can be tough.

I have been buying and selling suits for a considerable amount of time and have become very proficient at finding the most “bang for my buck”. This article will offer advice on how to stretch your dollar as far as possible.

Option one is to buy previously owned clothes at a considerable discount. You can find these suits at local thrift stores, estate sales, yard sales, and even consignment shops. Another option is to go online and check out some of the auction sites such as ebay.

Used clothing is economical and my number one choice for saving money. Having said this I do realize that not everyone is comfortable wearing clothes that have previously been worn. Also another drawback is the lack of a return policy on many used purchases.

The second option is to buy high quality suits that have not been discovered by the masses yet. Suits like Pronto Uomo, Steve Harvey, Mantoni, Perry Ellis, and Sean John are all fashionable and durable but lack the high price tag you would expect. Look to pay less than $500 for each of these suit brands.

The major disadvantage to this option is that your budget will not have much room for accessories after your suit purchase. You will not be able to buy as many suits or shirts as you would have if you saved more money on the suit.

The Final option is to buy department suit quality suits in bulk. Many of these types of suits can be bought at prices of $400 for two full suits. This option is great for the buyer that must wear suits on a daily basis.

Major disadvantages to this option are low durability, lower image, and the need to see a tailor more often. Sometimes it can be cheaper to pay more money upfront so that you do not have to worry about more costs down the road.

I hope these three options give you a better idea of how to buy a suit with limited funds. Always remember to decide on an option before going out and making any purchases.
